how it works
The Design Process.
There are many constraints and variables that go hand in hand with building and renovating. Presenting my clients with an 'ideal' or a "what I would do" solution isn't a realistic approach.
I aim to present you with a renovation design that you will be 100% happy to go away with and put into action.
This requires truly understanding your brief, your limitations and your wish list.

Below is the design process I follow in order to achieve this.

01.
Welcome
After I have received your initial enquiry I will follow up with either an email or phone call to begin the on-boarding process.
This includes booking in your design consultation and sending through a copy of my welcome pack, along with a link to my client survey to fill out online.
The survey helps me to gather some more specific information about your project and establish a clear understanding of what your project entails; so that when I come and meet you on-site we can get straight into discussing things in detail.

03.
Concepts
After our site meeting I will go away and draw up your existing plan from the onsite measurements. I will then begin planning and designing floor plans based on what was discussed at our meeting, keeping your goals and wish list at the forefront of my decision making.
There is often more than 1 way to solve a spatial problem so it is important to explore all options. I will usually present at least 2 initial concepts; this uncovers solutions you may not have considered while giving you control over the final design.

05.
Final Design
I will then collate all necessary drawings and details to accurately convey my design to both you and your builder; including detailed floor plans, elevations and 3D renders. Dependent on the size and scope of the project I will either email through the set of design documents or we will meet again to go over them.If you need to engage with a draughtsperson these drawings will save you a great deal of time and money! The design has already been done the draughtsperson simply needs to replicate the design and add any details needed for council approval.

02.
Design Consult
At our meeting (on site if you are local or via zoom if you are a virtual client) we will discuss the scope of my services, any challenges you are facing and your wish list. I try to get a really clear picture of your needs and lifestyle to establish ways I can best help and what things I need to place importance on when designing. We will brainstorm some space planning solutions to help gauge what items on your wish list are top priority.
While on site I will also gather all relevant measurements and details that I need. If you are a virtual client I will guide you through measuring up yourself.

04.
Development
Based on your feedback of the initial concepts I will then expand on your preferred design and refine all details.I will then send through the design, including the floor plan and 3D perspective views; which allow you to better understand and visualize the proposed design. It is at this point I invite you to go over the design and discuss any changes you would like made (one round of changes is included in the price). The design is then finalised and I set to work developing the detailed design drawings.

06.
Specification
If you are wanting to take my designs a step further, into the specification of details such as lighting, built in cabinetry, custom kitchen joinery or wardrobes etc. I then move into documenting these to a high level of detail through technical drawings and schedules. These documents would be used to pass on to any specific trades you may need to engage with to help with accurate quoting and construction.
Spatial design puts emphasis on how users will function and feel within the space; increasing productivity, satisfaction and enjoyment of the environment.
A home should be a sanctuary and place of contentment, just as a work environment should encourage productivity and inclusion.
These fundamental considerations are why it is so important to consider each of my clients personal circumstances when it comes to planning and designing their space.
My approach to every project is thoughtful and practical, yet creative and unexpected.
